Sara Ramirez
Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico and is an American-Mexican actress. She also sings. Her family was home-schooled by her mother in the USA. Raised with racial taunts and being made to feel unwelcome. When she attended a 9th grade school audition in which she was praised for her voice, she started to build confidence. The experience not only boosted her self-confidence but also changed the direction she wanted to go in her career. She graduated at the age of 22 with a degree from Julliard School in New York. At the age of 23, her first Broadway performance with Paul Simon's The Capeman, and her debut film, You've Got Mail were both her big breakthroughs. However her greatest breakthrough came when she appeared in the part in the role of The Lady of The Lake in the original Broadway show Spamalot receiving not just her the Tony Award for her performance but also great critical acclaim. Her fame grew for her appearance on Grey's Anatomy on ABC as Dr. Callie Torres. Also, she is a well-known singer and has released an extended play. She also works as an LGBT activist.
