Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress, dancer and singer. Her initial performances on Broadway include in the Musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. In her performance as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she won the Tony Award. Annaleigh has been collaborating in projects with award-winning directors, actors and producers throughout her professional career. Ashford next will star opposite Kumail in Robert Siegel's exclusive Hulu program Welcome to Chippendales which premieres November 22. Ashford's current project will be Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust and he will be starring with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. It's also available in the form of an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford's Broadway comeback will be on March 20, 2023. He is paired with Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same duo who produced Hamilton is directing the production. Ashford has most recently played Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment which is based on the crisis in America that picked across the country. Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters in the country's first impeachment hearings in over a century. Her two seasons on CBS show B Positive was her first big character. The show was created by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. The show featured Linda Lavin, Hector Elizondo, and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her portrayal of Essie on You Can't Take It with You earned her Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the originating part of Lauren In Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway roles. Ashford is a Denver origins native, and now splits her time in Los Angeles.
